Ashley Hinson was the Chapter's guest speaker. She shared her journey as a news broadcaster beginning as a 9 year old watching the news on TV and wondering out loud if that was something she could do. Ashley was also a dancer and when it came to choosing a college she sought one that offered broadcast journalism and the opportunity to continue her dance at a high level - thus selecting Penn State!
Ashley described her Penn State days as very busy keeping up an academic schedule along with the rigors of practice and performances as a Lionette. She recalled some of her student broadcast experiences particularly during the tumultuous times of the 'Sandusky Scandal.'
Her beginning broadcast experiences started in Texas and eventually led to Baltimore and WBAL-TV. Ashley, her husband Josh and two young children live in Howard County.
